Our story

The magic of a place is linked to its history.

The one of Château Grand’Grange began in 1810 with the acquisition of land by a friend of Napoleon Bonaparte.
Then, in 1842, the castle and its outbuildings were built with the granite rocks of the region.
It is also a majestic barn of 60 meters long that will give the name of the domain. Now, it is the fermenting room.

In 2009, Per Hakon Schmidt and Marianne Philipp decided to be part of Château Grand’Grange’s history. Passionate about wine and French culture, they make every effort to restore this unique place and improve its vineyard.

OUR TEAM

PER HAKON SCHMIDT
Owner

Legal adviser in Denmark, and fond of French culture and History, Per, without hesitation, bought Château Grand’Grange in 2009.

It is obvious to him to renovate it and give its vineyard its letters of nobility. After several purchases of plots, Château Grand’Grange has currently nine cuvées.

His wife Marianne, a lawyer in Denmark, is never far away to help and support him in all decisionmaking concerning the estate.

ANDREA PUGLIESE
Technical manager

Son of an Italien sommelier, Andrea became interested in wine tasting and the wold of wine from an early age. This passion led him to follow a wine course in burgundy.

Today a young 30-year-old oenologist with many different experiences, he decides to settle in the Beaujolais in order to take up a new challenge as manager of Château Grand’Grange.

His opening mind to winemaking methods and wine culture is a great quality for the château and its development.
